Carrboro, North Carolina

Originally known as West End, this mill town had the railway depot for students arriving for the University of North Carolina. Now, the mill is a funky mall, the railway station is a restaurant and the town is a less expensive place to live than Chapel Hill. The mix of shops, art galleries, restaurants and music venues has give the town the nickname "Paris of the Piedmont".

Nice place to not be noticed. Cheap rent and the occasional gun shot.
